Porsche are now mainly VW owned, following a failed attempt to purchase the Volkswagon brand.

That aside, Porsche continue to roll out rocking cars and continue to push the envelope in their sports cars series.  However, they have also expanded into other markets such as the 4 wheel drive market with their Porsche Cayenne model, and the saloon market with the Porsche Panamera series.

The first Porsche hit the road back in 1948, and while the Porsche family had been involved in the automobile industry for many years, the 356 was the first to wear the Porsche badge.

Since then Porsche has continued to excel in the sports car niche with the current offerings of the 911, the Boxster and the Cayman.
